Context behind communication pieces

The goal of these three communications is to inspire reforms on the sports betting advertising regulations in the Australian government policies. Each piece serves a distinct purpose to address and signal the urgent need for change.

Beginning the communication train with the media release and pitch email focus on strategic dissemination of the issue to the audience. Ensuring the message reaches the appropriate media outlets effectively with the audience I want to reach as my target audiences are families affected by gambling and the Australian federal government to generate change.

The speech, delivered by Nathan Buckley, former coach of the Collingwood football team, utilises his respected position within the AFL community. His previous work with Gambler’s Help and constant exposure to sports betting makes him a credible advocate for this speech. Buckley delivering the speech at a Gambler’s Help charity event assists in creating ethos with the audience as a result of his experience in the AFL.

The opinion piece aims to emotionally engage the audience, presenting statistics on sports betting in a compelling, passionate manner to signify the importance of the issue and to foster a deeper connection and understanding among the community.

Throughout these efforts, I've employed ethos by highlighting the negative impact of sports betting on children to instil concern for future generations. I've also established logos by backing my arguments with data from reputable studies, enhancing the credibility and persuasive power of my message, thus driving awareness and action.
